Loneliness, a poem of longing

Loneliness

I go here and there
Everywhere
Always alone

I have no boyfriend
There are plenty of guys
like fish in the sea
but I haven’t been asked
and I don’t date
not freshman year
It is my fault
That I am alone
But that doesn’t stop the loneliness

I miss my family
I don’t see them anymore
not very often
I am here
getting a good education
That is my choice
It is my fault
That I am alone
But that doesn’t stop the loneliness

I miss my friends
I don’t see them much anymore
I am too busy with classes
I am already behind with homework
and they want me to hang out with them
I don’t get anything done
I stay up late doing homework
I don’t have time for them
It is my fault
That I am alone
But that doesn’t stop the loneliness

Blast from the Past 29 - How to ask a guy to prom

How to ask a guy to prom

How to ask a guy to Prom

To ask a guy to Prom is not an easy thing.
It is much different than what you guys do.
It is not as easy as you might think.

Overcome the desire to be accepted, that’s the first thing,
because society still looks down on girls who do.
To ask a guy to Prom is not an easy thing.

Then pick a guy, he must be interesting enough to bring,
but for her dad, he’ll be innocent as the morning dew.
It is not as easy as you might think.

Find a time when his friends are not nearing
because you do not want to cause hullabaloo.
Asking a guy to Prom is not an easy thing.

Set up a talk with dad, for him, it’s like preparing for a hanging,
because Dad must know the guy before he bids them adieu.
It is not as easy as you might think.

Seeing all the trouble that asking would bring,
is it any wonder that we leave the asking to you?
To ask a guy to prom is not an easy thing.
It is not as easy as you might think.

limerick

There once was a girl named Mandie
Who loved a bear called pandy
They played all the days
Outside in the rays
And oh how they loved cotton candy

Blast from the Past 30 - A fishy princess

This series consists of notes that I wrote on facebook in the past. Enjoy reading my thoughts during my college years. Please comment but please be nice! Also please feel free to check out my other Blast from the Past Posts.

From April 2007

A fishy princess, probably not my best poem, any sugestions?

A Fishy Princess

A fish out water
She wanted to be
She couldn’t stand
To be under the sea
But once she got out
It wasn’t so great

She couldn’t speak
With the man of her dreams
‘Cause the witch stole her voice
So she finds other ways
To say what she means

To know that he loves her
Is all that she needed
For now and forever
If only he knew

But what if she could talk?
What would she say?
Would she blurt out “I love you”?
That might freak him out.

So she’d still have to find
another way
to make him love her
to make him stay.

Blast from the Past 26 - The only way, a political poem

This series consists of notes that I wrote on facebook in the past. Enjoy reading my thoughts during my college years. Please comment but please be nice! Also please feel free to check out my other Blast from the Past Posts.

The only way, a political poem

The only way

I understand the point of view
and I would really like to help.
I have come up with a simple way
for us to solve the problem.

The problem is the poor people
they are everywhere, we see them
in doorways and under bridges,
there is one in every motion picture.

So I think that we should give them money
that is what they truly need right?
We should continue giving them money
until they have enough to buy that fancy house
that we have always dreamed of
or that Porsche convertible
the one with the red paint.

That is what they really need right?
They need all that fancy stuff,
all that stuff that we don’t have,
that stuff that we can live without.

They obviously can’t live without it.
Who would be audacious enough
to think that they can?
What kind of horrible beast would not give?

I am not a horrible beast
so I will give them all I have,
and if that is not enough,
I’ll take a loan and give them what I don’t have,
How else do we solve the problem?

Blast from the Past 20 - A Cut Up Poem - You and Me

This series consists of notes that I wrote on facebook in the past. Enjoy reading my thoughts during my college years. Please comment but please be nice! Also please feel free to check out my other Blast from the Past Posts.

From April 2007

This is a cut up poem, which means that I took phrases from several books and articles and put them together in a way that made sense, in this case made almost a story.

You and Me

A cloudy spot flew through the night
Feathered mail from earth’s inmost womb

You sense my presence in a snapshot
Open a drawer, it’s still there
I lifted and supported you
You think of me then forget and smile
I know the truth and I get very mad

It is appropriate to be realistic
Life is complex but you get what you want
You are not good for my mental health

Blast from the Past 15 - Sonnet 1

This series consists of notes that I wrote on facebook in the past. Enjoy reading my thoughts during my college years. Please comment but please be nice! Also please feel free to check out my other Blast from the Past Posts.

From March 2007

Ok, now I have another poem for Creative Writing, let me know what you think.

Sonnet 1 :)
Shall I compare you to a circus clown?
And talk about all the ways you make me smile
Whenever you’re around I never frown
I, knowing that you love me, all the while.
But circus clowns are goofy all the time
And maybe they would never speak at all
Maybe they would always speak in rhyme
With them it is like talking to a wall.
But I know that you will listen to me
And when I ask a question you’ll respond
And with me, yourself, you’ll always be
And of me I can tell you’re very fond.
So like a clown you are, and yet are not
And that is what has got me so besot.

Blast from the Past 14 - No Footprints

This series consists of notes that I wrote on facebook in the past. Enjoy reading my thoughts during my college years. Please comment but please be nice! Also please feel free to check out my other Blast from the Past Posts.

From February 2007

I am taking a Creative Writing class and I will be writing all sorts of poems and short stories. I will probably be posting several of them on here. Anybody who cares to read them can tell me what they think, and if you have a useful critique post it too.
This was my first poem for the class

No Footprints

The waves call to me
beckoning me forward
I can feel them
lapping around my feet

I feel his hand in mine
strong and steady
supporting me

I share my heart with him
I know that he will cherish it
The promise has already been made
to Love and to Honor forever

I watch the delicate foam
dancing with the waves
My feet pound in the sand
as I run laughing down the beach
I pause to admire the sunset
and listen to the music of the waves

I look back on where we have walked
I see no footprints in the sand
Mine have washed away
His have not been made yet

Blast from the Past 7 - New Message

This series consists of notes that I wrote on facebook in the past. Enjoy reading my thoughts during my college years. Please comment but please be nice! Also please feel free to check out my other Blast from the Past Posts.

From October 2006

New Message

This is a short story that I wrote. It was inspired by the movie You've got Mail, except instead of mail it is facebook messages.

Eagerly Anne awaited the end of class. She glanced at the clock at least 10 times in the last 5 minutes. She could not wait to get back to her room and her computer. As soon as the professor released them she bolted from the class and practically ran across campus. Briefly returning the greeting of her roommate, she waited impatiently as it signed her in. Yay! She exclaimed as it showed that it had a new message. She opened it up and smiled as she read. Her friend, Joy, told her that she had a special smile for when Gabriel was mentioned. All anybody had to do to make her happy was show her a picture of Gabe. Sometimes it worked when they just said his name. After reading the message, she opened up a new screen and typed a message back. While she waited for him to message her back she went through and poked her friends. Between the messages that flew back and forth for the next two hours she started on her homework. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. She glanced at the clock and realized that it was Joy coming to get her for supper. As they walked to supper they talked of many things, but when they came near the dining commons she started looking around, wondering if he was there yet. They got trays and went through the line, but she still didn’t see him. They came out and looked around for seats, and there he was! Her face lit up with what Joy called her "Gabe smile"€? The three of them talked of many things throughout the course of the meal. After supper they left Joy at the dorms and went to their special place. As they swung together on the swings they continued laughing and talking together as they had since they first met.
